Someone call the flourescent police!

Ok, here is the lovely piece of yarn I wore to Joyce's Ugly Sweater Party last night.

I purchased this monstrocity at our local Value Village for an unbelievable $5.99!

I know you are thinking: why would anyone pay more than .99 for this?

Well, I attempted to reason with the pricing manager through a very empathetic cashier.

This sweater is just too ugly to charge $5.99, I mean look at this angora number for just $3.99, can you adjust the price, pretty pretty please?

And my answer, after all that work groveling at the thrift store?
I am sorry , we won't adjust the price. Do you still want it?

I was torn, but after realizing that this Highlighter-gone-mad sweater might just be the ugliest thing at the party, I gave in and paid the outrageousprice, giggling inside, as I imagined Joyce's look when she saw this piece of artwork!

ps- It as worth it. The party was a smashing success and I have never seen a room full of more unattractive sweaters in my life, or more giddy women ( sans children and husbands), munching on divine appetizers, dishy drinks and laughing until our faces hurt.

Thanks for the good time Joyce . We must do it again! Posted by Picasa

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a yummy feast at our house with David's family all there to celebrate American Thanksgiving. I think I have the best of both world's, celebrating both Canadian and American Thanksgiving one after the other.

I made:

Sweet potato orange cups ( Sweet potato, pinnapple and fresh orange juice stuffed in a hollowed -out orange and topped with a pecan brown sugar glaze)
Green bean casserole
Cranberry stuffing
Honey glazed ham with Apricot sauce

Chocolate fondant creme with whipped cream and raspberries

Ate waaaaaay to much ! Posted by Picasa

Our little helper

I'm on a growth curve as a mom trying to figure out how to incorperate my little girl into all that I do ( so as to avoid the whining, pant leg pulling, do something to get mommy's attention little act that is like fingernails on a chalkboard)

I am amazed, really, that my 18-month-old is a little woman in the making. I am shaping her view of life. My attitude will become hers. Am I impatient, frustrated, grouchy? Can I expect any better from her? I must overcome in my attitude if I am calling her to overcome in hers.......... Yeah, easier said than done somedays. But we are talking about life. God make me more like YOU.

So on this journey daily I am beginning to slow down, take time, look for ways to bring my girl into my life as a Homemaker, instead of trying to quickly do everything while she is asleep, or try to distract her so I can get some household things done.

She loves to help Mama, and with a little effort, I am discovering the joy of having a friend and little helper all day. She is learning she is needed as part of our family. Her help with 'cleaning', 'cooking' ( taking care of her babies) all blesses her Mama and Daddy.

Eiley is sooo much more cheerful, and so am I. I still have much to learn, but the shaping of a soul is not taken on with haphazard neglect. I am a commited student in this course called 'mothering' for the rest of my life. Posted by Picasa

Eiley's California Journal

I loved California!!!!!!

You would not believe it, but I actually met the Healthy Police's mom!!!! And she gave me popcicles, chocolate, Dr. Pepper, Chocolate covered raisins...yummy, or as I like to say " Hummy"

I took it upon myself to continue my education while at Granna's house and completed several Board Books. I am mainly focusing on farm animals, zoo animals and animals of all kinds

In the interest of my eduation, Granna felt it was necessary to introduce me to Animal Crackers. I learned sooo much about many kinds of animals this way. I especially like the tiger. He tastes sooo sweet.

I am a growing girl and I tried my hand at rock climbing. However, the boy next to me kept showing off, and so I got a bit distracted and decided to save my arm muscles for more important things like eating animal crackers.
