Bits of our Days

Eiley loves to chill like her dad, and she loves books, and mostly magazines. She calls them 'machoochoos' I think it's a syllable thing. She hears the syllables and then uses choo choo to fill it in. She calls her little friend Elliott 'Ehchoochoo'

I can dress myself too!
SHe put these on all by herself. Now as for getting her pants up....well, that will take some time. Though I really like the layered look.

Eiley likes Mommy's new haircut!

Maybe I can smell it better if I push it up my nose. I don't think Christmas Catus' smell EIley.... Oh well.

Weekend accomplishments

It has long been my goal to make a photo collage on my wall with some frames I have had for almost 10 years. I collected them when I lived in a quaint little town called Trinidad, Colorado. A neat family called the Danielsons's had a shop with the most unique frames at home decor. Over the course of 5 years collected their 'seconds' and sale frames until I had a good 20 of them. Hanging them up on the wall of our kitchen/ dining room makes my heart happy, because I have had them in boxes waiting for the day when I would be married, in my own home and able to have a wall of family fame. This past weekend, the wall was started, I just LOVE looking at it, as it is the first thing you see when you come into our home.

I also finally got around to ironing the curtains in our house, which I sewed quite a while back, but never properly ironed. Can I say that I supremely dislike ironing!
But 'Littlebit" loved playing tent under the curtains and brought all sorts of books and dollys to play inside while I ironed.
At least oneof us was having fun:)

Multitasking operator

Hmmmmmm....... Do I talk on the phone lots? Apparently I do, because 'little bit' has decided that talking on the phone is the BEST thing ever.

One thing she has learned from me, is multitasking. She wants to hold her doll, cook like Mommy AND talk on the phone to various aunties, grandparents, friends etc.

She is actually pretty good at it. I am not sure whether to be scared or laugh. We are going to have very large phone bills in a few years.

A toddlers rite of passage = a mothers rite to compensation

I used to think it was an urban myth, a legend, a wives tale, an exaggeration at least. You know the tale, the one where the pesky toddler empties the contents of their diaper and spreads their little human feces all over the universe?!? This only happens in zoos, amongst monkeys and gorillas and other primates...so I thought.

Well, as of today, you may call me a legend. :/

Little bit was in her crib for a nap, and I use that term loosely because she mostly plays and often sleeps, but playing takes the center stage with her. It got quiet after half an hour and I thought she was sleeping ( FIRST MISTAKE!.....NEVER, I REPEAT, NEVER TAKE SILENCE FOR SLEEP) All you experienced moms out there are shaking your heads at my novice oversight.

Anyhow after twenty minutes she starts saying "mahhhm maaaaaahhhhm" so I decide to check in on her. ( SECOND MISTAKE! I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A GLASS OF SPARKLING CIDER AND SAT OUT ON MY PORCH IN THE SUN)

AS I opened the door, the aroma, or should I say, STENCH, that assaulted my nostrils resembled an open sewer. Poo...feces.. whatever you want to call it was everywhere!!!!

AS I stepped closer ( THIRD MISTAKE!!!! I SHOULD HAVE SMILED CHEERILY AND TURNED AROUND, SHUT THE DOOR, WALKED AWAY AND TOSSED A POPSICLE IN FOR A SNACK LATER)
I noticed that 'Little Bit' had poo covering her whole body, face, eyes, bed, crib, carpet, blankets, dolls, books...shall I go on?

Fortunately hubby was home for lunch break and in a moment of insanity he actually picked up the poo covered monkey and plopped her in the bathtub ( I LOVE HIM), while I stared at all that poo!

Was it all from one little girl?
What sort of animal died in her digestive system to produce such an odor?
Would dolly ever be the same after a bleach bath?
Would THAT smell ever go away?
Was there workman's compensation for the job ahead of me?

After an hour of wiping, scrubbing soaking etc. I think we are almost poo free at our house, though her room still has a hint of ode de feces lingering.
Little bit also smells nicer, which makes it easier to forgive her moment of monkey-like digression. We gave her a bum-stinging reminder that diapers stay on and a toddleresque lecture consisting of:
"Diaper stay on, no diaper off, no poo everyewhere,no, no stinky poo yucky, obey mommy"

As for compensation, I think a day at the spa sounds like a good trade off for cleaning up all that poo, but I suppose I will have to settle for delayed gratification, when in a few years she is potty trained, and in a few more years when she will be told the story of her nap gone wrong, which is obvious proof that we come from monkeys.....or at least act like them sometimes.

Halfway mark

This week I am aproaching the halfway mark of this pregnancy. I will be 20 weeks and time is flying by so quickly. This baby is moving all around, kicking and twirling. He/she will definetely be able to keep up with Eiley.

Our magnificent obsession

Little peach has aquired a few obsessions lately ( not the least of which involves her little finger digging for gold up her nose). Some of the other interests are a bit more endearing.
"Kwips....Kwip..Mommy" - She loves clips and like any good princess loves having Mommy put them in and take them out multiple times throughout the day.

Toe fuzz is another fascinating discovery. This new and entertaining fad can occupy minutes on end, buying Mommy time to brush her teeth, make lunch, run out for groceries.....just kidding.

Men's shoewear and Hobbit-like dress-up games occupy the rest of her terribly exciting life. She actually climbed into these boots herself, and her auntie's jacket conceals an adorable set of calves......

Who knows what discovery will come next?

Daddy's girl

Little pumpkin loves her daddy and my amazing husband is such a blessing to me and his precious girl. Lately they have been teaming up to work around the house. EIley enjoys the dishes and tries to dry while David washes, and the other day she hammered away at our breezway door while David installed our doorknob.

Including her in our lives is our constant quest. Demonstrating to her that she is important to us and has something to give to our family is something we have been seeking to do more. What fun we are having!

A bit of a party going on

Check out the ultimate party for bloggers. Let me just say the list is overwhelming, but what fun to meet lots of other people. Party on!

And don't forget your dollys.
